Photo Outing - Amanda

Finally i get to join the photo session with Amanda! Been waited for this session quite some time. <3
This was my second time photo shoot at Heritage Hotel KL, the first time is with the gorgeous Kat.
Since i already been to the shooting venue few months ago so i can roughly think of some idea what and how to shoot before the session start. Compare with the previous session there, bunches of clueless shots made me receive many critical critiques all over the forums…

Beside the adorable Amanda, secondary objective for this photo session is do the power testing with my latest weapon, The Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8G. This lens is well known as one of the sharpest zoom made by Nikon. I really couldn’t believe the clarity and the sharpness, it is really that good. And not to mention the auto focus speed is lightning fast as well.

Trexi

Guess you guys already noticed that recently i’ve been shooting a lot of girl portraits and events.
I wanted to concentrate my photography on portraitures, but photography isn’t only about human portraits. I reached a point where i don’t really know how to do better and improve my shooting skills, and it’s time to get out of the box and do some breakthrough. As what suggested from a friend of mine, try to do a shoot a series of photos using a toy or figurine.

On Christmas eve i received 2 Trexi from my college mate and suddenly i came to think of, “Yes why not i try to do a shooting with these two little thingy?”. From the day after that i started to play around with the Trexi, composing it everywhere to suite the theme and create the world belong to them.

Here are the shots i’ve taken, not really brilliant but i found it was a good experience for me. Explored! :p

Peggy & Renee

Kinda late to post this out but just wanted to share. :p
Went to PC Fair early of the month at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and my objective for this? The PC Fair babes of course, i can always shop with good price at Lowyat plaza without all the hassle and squeeze inside the crowds of PC Fair.

But at the end i didn’t take babes photo as much as possible like how other people did, all i able to get is a chance to join lovely Avira babes Peggy Yong & Renee Hong for dinner. Thanks to my friend or else i wouldn’t have this precious moment. These photos are taken with my newly bought D700 and 50mm f1.8D, we’re sitting beside the blue & reddish light of the restaurant and i tried hard to adjust it back with Aperture2 so yeah.. I post processed most of my photos. :p

p/s: The Fujifilm Instax “Cheki” photos are taken by a friend of mine.

Photo Outing - Marina

Travel all the way down to Melacca and had a very memorable photo shoot with Marina.
This photo shoot is another experiment session for my lens, 50mm F1.4D. I did a few shots of very limited depth of field with aperture f2, f1.8, f1.6 and widely open f1.4. Personally very satisfied with the outcome, love the big apertures on full frame camera.

Besides the 50mm f.14, i also had a chance to try my dream portrait lens AF-S 70-200mm f2.8 VR, thanks to a buddy who joined the same photo shoot with me. I like the working distance of 70-200mm so much. With f2.8 i could do creamy out of focus area on my photographs and yeah the image quality is tackle sharp and the AF speed is simply unbeatable, it’s lightning speed.

How i feel about this photo shoot? I think from the images you guys might think i’m just showing off how good is my gear but not too concern on composition and the mood or theme thingy. Seriously i found myself is pretty gear minded recently… gonna stop looking at expensive gears and tune up my photography skills.

Photo Outing - Shelwin

Joined a group photo shoot at Bukit Jalil Park that organized by Brandon from myphotocity.com.
I am very lucky that my group’s model is the pretty girl, Shelwin. She is experienced and able to give good poses and expression. I shoot the whole session with my new D700 and 70-300mm VR, luckily overall Nikon has kept the settings and buttons layout pretty similar with my previous D90 so not much of problem when using the new camera.

With a good model, great camera and nice location but i guess i still couldn’t deliver better photographs.

Comic Fiesta 2009

Last Saturday and Sunday went to Comic Fiesta for some cosplay shots. ^^;
I realized that i enjoy seeing the cosplayers walk around outside more than go inside the convention hall. Obviously this year’s Comic Fiesta got more audiences compare to previous year. It’s good to see Malaysia’s ACG circle is growing bigger and bigger. Not too bad for this year’s Comic Fiesta, the only downside i would say is exhibition hall kinda small for the crowd.

Here are some photos i able to get there, not many due to the bad lighting condition.
Need more practice on using the flash.

I’m not able to stay a full whole day on AFA09 day 2 since i need to meet my friends at Singapore and the only event i able to see is the K-On live dubbing and Q&A session, very unfortunately it was strictly no photography and videography.

AFA09 - Anime Festival Asia 2009 (Part 1)

Spent 3 days at Singapore last week, and all the effort goes to AFA09!
On the first day of AFA09, i tried to go there earlier to avoid some “human jam” at Suntec Convention hall. But by the time i reach there around 9am, the crowds already there and people are all around the place.

Waited awhile, 10am plus the gate is open. Rush into the hall, grab the camera and get some quick snaps within the exhibition hall before the place is fully packed. After wandering around the hall for 30 minutes and heck, AFA is not as big as i expected but well nevermind, it’s interesting enough for me to spend the whole day inside.

The appearance of Danny Choo at was a surprise for me. How should i elaborate this hmmm… it might because i always thought that he is a “celebrity” class blogger and wouldn’t simply show his face around, but definitely he’s not gonna be that way. He’s friendly and mingle around with all other “otacools”, taking photos with the peoples and so. Too bad i went there alone and i trust no one to hold my camera for me. :p

After a quarter of hour i snap photos at Tokyo Figure Show Singapore, i went to the main stage for the preview screening of blockbuster animation directed by Hosoda Mamoru, Summer Wars. The director of Summer Wars, Hosoda Mamoru came all the way to Singapore and promote this animation that will be air in Singapore on February 2010. We all went thru the Q&A session with the director and he explained some of his thoughts and idea on the process of masterpiece creation.

Next highlights on stage of course is the first ever Regional Cosplay Championship and the appearance of Kaname.
All the contestants are very good in their costumes. But my vote still goes to the female Philippine cosplayers Ashely and Alodia, they are just simply gorgeous and cool. Too bad they couldn’t manage to get the grand prize.

Last but not least, it’s the time for I Love Anisong concert. I’m not the “I Love Anisong Concert” ticket holder hence i queued for around 2 hours to get a front row spot. Not a big fans of Shoko-tan, Hatsune Miku and Aniki but yeah i still enjoyed the concert pretty well.

Okay after all these long craps, enjoy the photos i able to capture on the event.
